Most of the Texas State Parks that are at the beach are right on the ocean! Galveston State Park and Mustang Island are a couple. In South Padre there is a county Park right on the ocean.

Kiptopeke has a very nice beach, but it is a bay beach, not Ocean which makes all the difference to kids who want to boogie board! No waves! We just returned from Cherrystone in Cheriton, VA and loved it, but again, it is on the Cheasepeake Bay, not the ocean but you sure can't beat the sunsets! We had site 610 and any sites in that row are right on the bay and have excellent views.
Go a little further to Myrtle Beach if you want to camp right on the beach. Plenty of campgrounds there.

First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. Not the ocean but the bay. I still enjoyed it. Beautiful views and very private site. Check out my profile pics they are from First Landing. My all time favorite is Assateague, but that may be a little too north for you. That is the Ocean and you get the bonus of the Ponies.

galveston state park is cuil. you can be right off the water or not far from ..the beach front sites are first come first served. clean sites, restrooms etc. park is on the far side of the island but only 20 minutes away from ice cream and pizza. good surf fishing and kite flying.
