Before I bought my Motorhome, I stopped by the GMC dealership and asked a "mechanic" (notice the small m) if I can tow a 2007 denali AWD behind my Motorhome. He said, and I quote, "NO PROBLEM". He said I had to buy a transmission pump and install it in the truck. Since then I have learned that a 2007 Denali AWD cannot be towed. There is a lot of my money tied up here and I need some straight poop. Help in TEXAS. John B

Isn't the Denali just a trim package on the GMC Yukon? The towing guide from Motorhome Magazine shows the Yukon "4WD" is towable - not sure if that is the same drive train as yours or not. I would call GMC. Did you check the user manual? I started to buy a GMC Acadia AWD, and towing instructions were right in the manual. They are in my Jeep Grand Cherokee as well.

You could also see if there is a Yukon Denali forum online. I found the one for the Acadia and Jeep helpful.

I had the same problem with a Escalade AWD. I had talked with Remco whom told me that it could be towed. I was never able to find anyone that was towing one,or had used the pump to tow. I talked with GM engineer's (2) whom both told me that it could not be done without damage to the transmission and the transfer case. After almost 2 years of trying, I finally took the loss and traded the Escalade. The only I was able to recover some of the loss was trade it on a XLR special edition. I Bought a HHR automatic tranny to tow 4 down. The Denali is the same vehicle as the Escalade. I found some being towed but all were 2003 and older they can be towed

Not sure if this will help, but my 03 Denali XL's manual says NO WAY. Don't tow with any wheels on the ground, it says.

Another consideration is the GCWR and the hitch rating on your MH. The Denali is about 6,000#. So, I have my very old Explorer (with Remco drive shaft disconnect) to tow.

The Denali, as with the Escalade AWD, is NOT TOWABLE with ANY wheels down. The owners manual makes an even stronger statement. I have an ESV and an EXT and they can only be towed on a trailer. Period.

I confirmed this with the Cadillac Dealership, who has been very straight with me.

The transmission cannot be cooled by using a pump. The transfer case will overheat and the gears will be powdered. Ask any reliable towing company. NO WHEELS ON THE GROUND.

Sorry. I'm in the same boat.

Stuck towing my H3 because the Escalade can't be towed. That really stinks because the Cadillac is way more comfortable.

Never trust anyone wether a vehicle can be towed. Usually the info you need is in the vehicle manual under dinghy towing. We had a 97 Yukon 4WD that wasn't towable but it was real heavy too. We looked at a lot of autos before we bought this last one. Even the service managers didn't know. I had to insist that one dealership cut open the info package. In fact we liked one small SUV that could be towed but no one was making a baseplate for the new model. We do have a pump on our Venture van. Sorry you had such bad luck.

The Denali and Escalade ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE drivetrain is very different from ordinary FOUR-WHEEL-DRIVE. Ordinary 4-wheel-drive is a system mainly intended for occasional off-road use or use on slippery surfaces (such as ice or snow). There is no center differential, and "binding" will occur in these systems in turns if driven on pavement or hard packed dirt. This binding will eventually break things. 4-wheel drive transfer cases usually have a "Neutral" position, in which the vehicle can be towed "4-down" with no damage.

The Denali and Escalade all-wheel-drive systems are "always engaged", and the center differentials allow front and rear wheels to turn at different speeds on hard surfaces without "binding". As others have noted, to prevent damage to the all-wheel-drive system, most such vehicles need to be towed with all 4 wheels off the ground, i.e., on a trailer or a roll-back wrecker.

We had purchased a Chevy Cobalt to tow. It wasn't as comfortable as our Denali to drive. Met another couple that had been towing a Denali with a Remco lube pump for a while with no problems. We sold the Cobalt. Had a Remco lube pump and an Air Force One brake system installed on the "all wheel drive" 2004 Denali. Have towed the Denali for 13,000 miles with no problem and enjoy the comfort of the Denali. If I were you and I wanted to tow the Denali I would call Remco and ask if it is feasable.
