My Onan Microlite 2800 gas generator starts and runs. But its not sending power to anything. My ac/microwave work fine with shore power - but not on generator power. Did I blow the fuse in the generator? Would the generator run with a blow fuse?
(ps - when running on generator power, with the ac on, I forgot to turn off the ac when starting the van.)

Just the other day I didn't get any power from my generator either. Reseting the breaker mounted on the generator did the trick. It's a black in color toggle switch type of breaker. Kind of hard to see.

Don't know much about the gen-set you have but alot of gen-sets have breakers on the unit its self. Also it would not hurt to check the breakers in the fuse box.

Nothing to do with your generator...
...but I was thinking of you when Gustav passed through. I hope your place was an unscathed as it was after Katrina's visit.

Starting the van shouldn't have had any effect. Check the breaker inside the generator's box. It's located on the right side of the little control panel, and feels ~like a toggle switch. And yes, it's hard to see, and a very poor design. That's the most likely culprit, but there are also breakers inside the the electrical panel, tho' it sounds like you've got no power to them.

Yep made it through the storm with no problems and my power came back on last nite. The GWV was home away from home during the evacuation yet again.
Gotta go look for that breaker switch in case we have to leave town for Ike.

Found the generator breaker - flipped it up - no luck. Flipped it down - no luck. My neighbor looked at the fuse and said its not blown. Appliances/ac run with shore power so can't be the inside rig breakers....
Any other suggestions? I dont' see any wires hanging down which could have been disconnected.

Could be the transfer switch. Had a problem like yours once.
The house battery's would start the gen-set but the transfer switch would not switch over. Plugged it in to shore power over night and the next day the battery's where up and when I tried the gen-set the transfer switch work and I had power to the coach.

Improper ground from generator to van chassis...

Hi dombodals. You did not say what ClassB you have? If it is a pleasureway, there is a reset in the wireing from the gen to your cb panel. it is located under the floor in the clothes closet. 4 sq head screws hold the floor down. while the floor is removed ,run the gen and put an amp meter on the wires. also another place to check is your GFCI's one in the bath and maybe one at the micro. Also when closet floor up ,GEN NOT running pull top off reset check for tight wire nuts. If a Roadtrek. I have found loose wires on the circuit breakers in CB panel. ARC & Spark!!! Can cause a FIRE. Easy to get to. Good luck 90 Hawkins
