The three lights above the mirror on the bathroom cabinet of my 2007 Wildcat won't turn on. All the breaker switches are O.K. Any ideas on what may be wrong? We're not electricians, so don't want to start unhooking wires.

P.S. I've posted a dozen questions on this site this past year, and have gotten excellent advice from all the respondents. Thanks, guys!

Irma,

Those lights are 12V. The power to them runs through a fuse. Not a breaker.

Are there any other lights that don't work?

If so, it's likely a blown fuse.

The fuses are mounted in the converter.

The 3 lights above the mirror over the bathroom cabinet in my Montana are 120V.
Might try resetting the GFI at the 120 plugs, usually in the bathroom, if your lights are not 12V. The GFI in my unit took out the 120 plugs in the bathroom sink area and the 120 plugs in the bedroom along with the triple light over the mirror.

My 3 lights went out also. They were working intermittantly for a while and then quit all together. The light over my swivel chair and the roof light in the bedroom are all connected together somewhere.

If yours are 12v, I would check the ground and the switch first.

Our unit is 110v and not 12v. If 110v: Check the GFCI to see if the red button is out indicating a trip. If OK then secure the power and remove the light fixture to see if the wires are lose or disconnected. If OK then remove the light switch on the wall and check the wires there.

try this--the light is 12v. the circuit is completed by a flimsy tin plate attached to the inside of the fixture (acts as the ground wire). unscrew the 2 screws holding the fixture on, and examine that connection. it is hopefully just loose. re tighten it, screw the fixture back on and presto-let there be light!

As has been said....remove the light and check connections. Wire Nuts can come loose in a 'stick and brick' home, so vibration in a trailer can definitely cause loose connections. I broke a bulb off inside my vanity light and upon removal of the fixture for 'repairs', I saw my connections had been 'wire nutted' and securely taped as well.....

Good luck, and let us know what you find....

Enjoy the journey....

I have found that solder and heatshrink work better than wirenuts. Most of the 12 volt wiring in RVs uses multi strand wire and due to the nature of this wire wirenuts dont hold. Most times in the 12V system the problem is either a fuse or poor ground.
Having spent 43 years working with electricicity I know the nightmares that can occur. Had a problem with my fiver that I had no markerlights on the front but everything else was working. While it was annoying me trying to locate the missing ground I decided to take a change and replace the freshwater tank that had dropped out of its mounting. When this task was completed my front markers started woking again and no further trouble. Both myself and an RV technician still can't figure how the two were connected but I am not going to lose a lot of sleep over it. LOL

some of the new Chineese bulbs solder nibs on the base of the bulb are not high enough to make good contact. Most of the bulb holders now used are also made in China and its not unsual for the springs that push the contacts to the bulb contacts to be very weak and take a set. Either one or a combination of the two can give you problem. The best way is to check with a voltmeter or test light at the bulb holder contacts, no power there most likley a blown fuse.

Is there a wall switch as well as a fixture switch to enable the lights?
