While retracting last night, the awning sprung all the way out. The motor responds to the switch, but the roller does not move to pull the awning in. For now, I have pushed it in and strapped it closed. From another great post on this forum, I believe the problem is with the roller end cap on the motor end. If so, PPL does have the part. I'll need to get it all apart to confirm what is actually wrong. Has anyone had experience with tearing this beast apart? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I know that this does not answer your question, but is it not under warranty?

Safe travels.

I removed the awning from the MH to repair ours. If you are comfortable on a ladder and can take stuff apart while remembering how it goes back together .... go for it! I called a dealer and without looking at it, he said the awning would have to be replaced .... color matched would be $1,700.00 plus labor.

PPL fixed me up with a part that totaled $100.00 with shipping. Works like it did before the mal-function!

I was able to remove one of those Oasis door awnings in a jiffy using a low-hanging branch at 5mph. I was always going to order the bent parts and repair it, but replaced the whole coach instead. Still have the thing - anyone need some parts?

This is exactly the same problem I had. See my post here -> clicky You are correct. The defective piece is called a roller end cap. See diagram on my earlier post. If you can find one they run $90.00 to $120.00 plus freight. I managed to drill a small hole in the pin on the motor and cap and put a SS screw in it. Put it back together & it works. If you want to message me I will give you more details.

We had to replace that cap also several months ago, the part was about $80. We ordered directly from the factory. Took 2 of us to take it down, you have to slide the awning off after you remove the screws. We never use that awning but that piece was worn. Seems to be a common defect with Oasis.
