I use these to allow me to open the bathroom door. I also use this to help open jars and bottles. Those rubber pads work well too, but I don't always have enough strength to use them. I also try to buy only the OXO brand utensils as they have the big handles that make gripping easier.

I too have trouble with opening jar lids. I often use an old fashioned can/bottle opener (one end is triangular and punctures, the other is sort of rounded) Slip the rounded edge (upside down) under the lip of the lid and press down against the "shoulder" of the jar, almost always pops the seal. I also have a metal paint can opener that is skinnier and does the trick even better.

The very best thing I have found is called One Touch can opener and One Touch jar opener. They really work. I found them at Walgreens, but the are on E Bay too. They really work. You just set them on the car or jar and hit the button snf they open it. They work odd batteries. I love them!!!

It's a folk remedy for arthritis. You soak raisins in gin then eat 9 a day, I think. Maybe it's 3 times a day. Maybe you just want to throw out the raisins and drink the gin?

I second this. I have arthritis in my thumbs, and even though I've had thumb joint replacement I still lack strength in my hands. I love my One Touch products. Just set that baby on top of a can and let 'er spin. I have a set in the trailer and a set at home. And sent a set to my 74yo mother!

Fortunately, my RA hasn't progressed enough for me to really experience this problem except in the mornings. I do use the soft rubberized pads to enable a better grip on jar lids, but water and soft drink bottles are pretty much impossible for me. Later in the day when the naproxen kicks in, it is easier. So far Methotrexate has contained any further growth of the disease.
Usually, I just hand what ever needs to be opened to my Bud....don't know what I would do without her.
