When we bought our 5er used it came with a surge protector to protect from surges at the outside pedestal. Last year, during our travels, a gentleman showed me a line monitor he used to check the voltage at his outlets. It made my list of things to consider before we head out again this year. My question is, do I need a line protector if I have an external surge protector and run smaller “in-house” protectors for the TV, electric heater and computer? I know this is not a 5er question; however, several of you have earned a high level of credibility in the last two years as I applied your advice to my situations. Thus, I want to hear your thoughts and experiences, not just a technical answer… Thank you.
Surge protectors block voltage spikes, line monitors warn you of under-voltage conditions. Spikes are a problem with electronics, under-voltage is mainly a concern for your A/C.
