We are purchasing a new TT with 2 slide-outs. We park our TT seasonally and usually are up there about 2 weekends per month. Should we leave the slide-outs open all the time or close them each time?

I'm trying to decide if it's harder on the motor to open/close them several times/month or take a chance leaving them open and have rain, leaves, etc. collect on the flat top and cause problems.

What would you/do you do? Thanks!

You can do it either way. Order a slide topper for the slides and no leaves to worry about but sun will ultimately do some damage to the topper. Without topper it will ultimately do some damage to the slide roof. Leave it closed sun won't damage either one but it'll be the ONLY part of the roof that isn't damaged by the sun. IN any case they're DESIGNED to be in the sun and weather so again...your call. As for the slide motor, they SUPPOSED to open and close the slide whenever you need so shouldn't be a problem that way either.

I'd close them when not in use. Heck, on a long trip we often open & close the slides twice a day! Better to be stored with the slideouts closed, IMO, especially if you don't have toppers.

I think you should leave them closed. Puts a little less stress on the supports and even if you have toppers, a little less UV rays on the toppers.

I have a 35 foot with two slides that has been on a seasonal lot since 1998. I put the slides out in May and don't put them in until end of September. So far I have not noticed any damage or fading. I do not have an awning over them either. The slides have the same material on them as the roof does and I haven't noticed any one covering their roof during the summer. I do clean them off once during the summer and then before closing up.

I see a lot of RV's around here sitting in peoples yards or under cover with the slide out all year long. Mine stays under cover with the slide out so we can go in and out to prepare for trips and clean up without having to move the slide..

We have a TT set up seasonally and leave the slide out all season from April 1 to Oct 31,then close it for the winter. I'm not about to repack every weekend to slide the side in. There are probably pros and cons to either method. Good luck.

I see no advantage in leaving them out.

If I'm not gonna be around, I'd close 'em up - - - less exposure in case of rough, inclement weather. In our case the only "repacking" we'd have to do to close the slides is to move the recliner to the side.

I see no reason to leave out. Only takes a few min to close them up.
