While working this morning a blue tint appeared on my screen. It's just like someone had put blue plastic wrap over my monitor. I know it's not the monitor - I can turn the computer off and the color on the monitor goes back to normal when I run the built-in set up and diagnostic.
So far I've done a restore to yesterday. I've downloaded the latest driver for my video card, triple checked the settings, rebooted several times and scratched my head even more times.
Specs are: Vista Home Premium. AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.2GHz. 2GB Ram. NVIDIA GeForce 6100.
Can any of you think of anything else I can check or do other than replacing the video card?
UPDATE: Started checking connections and then the cable. The puppy found a new chew toy. Problem solved. Thanks for the suggestions - got me to look at the simple fix first.
Thanks,

My screen went purple this morning. It was caused by a loose video cable connector on the monitor. I jiggled it a little bit and the colors returned. May not be the same problem as yours but is worth a try. Good Luck

Try reseating the video card and replacing the video cable. Do one at a time. You can also try booting into safe mode. It sounds like a bad video card. Good Luck

Depending on what type of monitor you have. If it's the old CRT type you probably have a color gun that went dead.

I would check the video cable connections to make sure they are tight. (Screw in those thumb screws!) If that doesn't fix it, try "wiggling" the cable to see if that changes anything. If not, then I'd check the video card (if so equipped) to make sure it's securely seated in the expansion slot. If possible, you might be able to try a different video cable.
If still no joy, see if you can borrow another monitor from someone to see if it still does the same thing. If it does, it's most likely a video cable or card issue. If this fixes the problem, then you probably need a new monitor.

Try this:
Right click on the background
Select Graphics Properties
Select Color Correction
Slide the brightness left (most likely)
Does that help?

Bad cable or card.
Just went through the same thing.
Kind of a blue/purple tint
I had just switched the monitor to my backup computer.
Found a bent pin - straightened it and all is well.
