The wife and I looked at one a month or 2 ago. I liked it but if was far too big to tow into state parks. It wqas very well suited for retirment living which I'm not even close to. I too am leary about a slide that spans the length of the 5th.

The manufacturer also has to deal with "R" factors when building something like that. He may indeed put a large extruded aluminum beam down the full length of the cut-out for that slideout to adequately support the roof, but that aluminum beam in turn will be tough to insulate. The depth of that beam may be able to be judged by the amount of wall height above the slideout hole remaining. The other thing that comes up with monster slideouts is keeping them aligned while they go in and out and in this case I'd be surprised if they rely on one motor to do the job but rather a motor at each end with the standard alignment shaft/gear rack to keep things kopacetic. Carriage is not known for "shoddy" or "weak" construction so time will be the ultimate judge of their success with this floorplan.

We have friends with a 34' HR MH with a super slide. It is really nice inside without the normal choke point in the middle. Would I want to own it in a few years? NO Way! But it is really nice now! Chris
