I recently had to reformat my laptop hard drive. When I access rv.net the response time for the page to download is extremely slow (I mean several minutes) This site is the only one I visit that is doing this.
My question is " is the rv.net downloading cookies for each page?" or is something else going on? (My desktop works normal with quick response)

I, too, am having this problem and have had for some time. The problem exists for me on three different machines in two different locations on two different types of connections (T1 line at work and cable modem at home).
I have not made any changes to either my work computer or to my desktop of laptop at home, but I have been having this problem for several weeks. I use the primary rv.net link to access the forum.
I tried the Woodall's and the Trailer Life links provided elsewhere on this forum, but they were no faster. I timed the Trailer Life link, and it took two minutes for the front page of the forum to load over cable modem.
Have there been changes under the hood in the last couple of months that could be causing this problem. I love this site, but it has become agonizingly painful to wait for each page to load when I click on a discussion.
I am editing this to relay the fact that it took two minutes and nine seconds for this page to reload after I posted this the first time. By comparison, the RV Blog page accessed by the link at the top only took eight seconds to load. Something must be going on.
Slow is great compared to what it used to be. A couple years ago it was worthless for days at a time. It still has slow moments but way way better than it was. No worries here.

Sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree. This is the worst I've seen things in the time I have been a member (perhaps a year or so). I love this site, but because of the problems I;ve experienced waiting for the site to load, I find myself visiting less often, which means I get further behind in my reading and have to spend even more time waiting for a few pages to load in order to catch up.
What i would like to see are either some explanations for what might be taking place or some additional suggestions (since the suggestion to use alternate links isn't helping me) for remedying the problem on my end. Thanks.
I have the same problem. I opened Task Manager to try to see what was happening during the delay and saw that "My Shopping Genie" was running in the background. This is an app that I'd recently gotten from a friend. I shut it down and RV.net returned to normal. Hooray!
I then uninstalled 'My Shopping Genie'. Got a message saying the uninstall was not completed successfully. RV.net worked fine until I restarted the computer about 3 days later. Now it's back to being too slow to use. My Shopping Genie doesn't show up in Task Manager or anywhere else that I can find. I'm thinking of re-installing it so that I can try to completely uninstall it.
There is apparently some conflict with that program and something that RV.net (and ONLY RV.net) is doing. I started a thread on this a couple weeks ago and most of the responders said, "No, it's not slow on my computer" (big help) or "Delete your cookies and temp internet files".
The thing is that I run Windows at work and Linux at home, and while there may be company programs running in the background at work, I do not run any such programs at home. I can certainly try deleting cookies and temporary internet files to see if that helps, but I am not expecting that since I did do that recently at home with no effect.
I tried connecting directly to my router which did improve the speed some but not like it was before i reformatted my laptop hard drive. I also connected directly to the modem with some improvement but not like it was. My desktop is sitting right beside my laptop and rv.net comes up instantly comming thru the same router and modem. It's got to be some setting in my laptop since it worked fine prior to reformatting. I'm using vista and downloaded and installed all updates. I think i'll got to HP and check for driver updates there.
