I used Tracks for Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Wasn't a caravan as such but the RV park they set us up in, the transportation to and from town and other places, the reservations they made for meals, all other things they set up were all first class. What they set up an individual could not do unless it was over a year in advance and they know what to do and how to do it. I have heard that their travel caravans are equally good. I personally don't care to travel that way but to each his own.

If you like to be led around like a flock of sheep without any freedom to deviate and have thousands of $$$ to pay for such treatment, then go for it. We do not like to travel that way, as we like the freedom of choice and staying an extra day here and there as we want. We looked into the cost of various caravans and then looked at what it cost us to travel and found that the caravan companies make about a 60 to 70% profit on each RV. Nice business to be in.

Several years ago we did a search on this site as we wanted to do the Copper Canyon....major hits told us to try Adventure Caravan...very similar but Tracks moved faster did not see as much. We did go with Adventure caravan on the top to bottom..where you go into the canyon... Was outstanding. At that time we were able to do the piggy back on the train which I understand you can no longer do. We were so pleased with that trip we took the 66 day adventure Caravan to Yucatan, Belize, and Guatemala. What an adveenture...and worth it to us. This year we are considering taking their east coast tour. Check their catalog 1 800 872 7897. Western Horizon RV also has trips like that.. Think it was Fiesta or something. Compare all before making decisions.
I am new to this forum and I was just reading some of your comments regarding tours and tour companies. My husband and I found a very professional company out of New Orleans for Rv trip Planning Services. We had a large group wanting to go to New Orleans last year, there were about 15 rigs. This company provided us with profiles and surveys to fill out as a group before the trip. They set us up in a very nice RV Resort and let us choose the cost. The cost of our basic rv plan was only $50.00 per couple.

We will use them again!

We did the Copper Canyon Tracks tour 2007. I rate it a perfect 10. The company takes care of every camper as if they were family. From the onset you are prepared for the trip. You receive e-mail information for other travelers, so you can arrange for group travel before and after the trip. On the trip, as mentioned, there is little room for variation. The group travels as a group, if one rig needs a pit stop, all rigs slow, the tail leader stops and waits, and then the group reforms and continues along. The travel speed is reasonable, and all are made comfortable, and all feel secure. Group activities are well planned and well executed. Tour leaders are well trained. Local guides are excellent, and have been with the organization for years. I'm not a group travel type of person, so can't imagine that I would take a Tracks tour in the lower 48, but I am considering an Alaska Track. We did meet up with RVers on our trip from the other two Copper Canyon trips. Trading stories, I am glad we chose Tracks. Yes we traveled like sheep being herded, but we had the safety of the flock.
ps. I have no interest in Tracks, I do not associate with anyone in the company. I just appreciate value for my money. I still keep my Tracks decal on the rig. I do not have the dealer advertisement on my license frame.
we did the tracks tour to alaska in 05 and it was the best trip ever. we we'rnt led around like lambs like some people say. we actually went on our own to each predetermined meeting point. all campgrounds and shows and restaurants were set up ahead of time, and we didn't need to take a car with us, as they provided all the transportation we needed.
