We would like to renovate our "new" used Class C. The interior is currently pink & purple (what were the manufacturers thinking?).
We want to put down a laminate wood floor, and changing the counter-tops shouldn't be too difficult. I am pretty sure that I can sew new covers for the dinette cushions, but I don't know how I will recover the sofa or captains chairs. Anyone with experience in recovering a jack knife sofa bed? Also - I will need help on how to change out all fabric trim details around the dinette & sofa.
Our RV is a 1994 Jayco Eagle 28'. Layout is queen bed in back, cab over bed, dinette/bed, and sofa/bed. Would love to do something in a neutral that we can just add other colors for accents.
Oh - I forgot to ask about painting or replacing cabinets. Can we use regular cabinets if we replace, and how easy/difficult would it be to paint all the wood?
Re: the re-upholstery issue. If you're handy with a sewing machine, it can be done. I'd suggest with the sofa, take the upholstery apart carefully and use the old upholstery as a pattern for cutting out the new material. Might want to take pictures as you go along to help when it comes time to put everything back together. Painting the cabinets and other wood in the mh is very do-able. As with most paint projects make sure you prep the surfaces properly. Scrub, a light sanding and then use a stain killing primer. Cheaper than replacing--and easier. Good luck.
