Is there a way to rejuvinate the seal on the toilet flusher? Mine doesn't always hold water and of course, that can be desired at times.

In my Sealand instructions, they say to spray "Pam" (fry pan coating) on the seal. Also, be sure the clamp around the bowl-to-base joint is tight.

Try depressing pedal and slide your foot off so it slams shut a couple of times.Silicone paste is also a good remedy.

If you can't get it to seal after lubing the slide and cleaning out the slide seal, it may be worn out. Depending on what toilet you have, RV service stors sell seal rebuild kits

The wifes tooth brush comes in handy for cleaning around the edges of the gasket.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper
the closer you get to the end the faster it goes.
Enjoy it what's left.

I have read of recommendations of using oil to lubricate
and seal the toilets gasket, and using oil in the pee traps to prevent evaporation
of the water that will allow gas fumes to enter.

I have concerns about oils (floats on the surface) and silicones going into the black
& grey water as they may adhere to and coat the tank sensors resulting in false readings.
Anyone have factual data regarding this

1. Most,(if any)RV toilets, do NOT have Pee traps, just a straight drop, from the bowl, to the tank.
2. Oil, or silicone in the black tank, would be of no worry, as far as coating, or adhering to the tank sensors, resulting in false readings, as almost all of these sensors are notoriously inaccurate in the first place.

Thetford makes a product designed for use in their toilets and claims ............. Petroleum-free lubricant extends toilet seal life. Helps prevent sticking and promotes smooth toilet operation. Penetrates seal to lubricate and condition entire seal. Use throughout season and for winterization. Compatible with Thetford chemicals and RV/marine antifreeze.

They also claim, as mentioned above, that the best tool to clean the seal is your wife's toothbrush.

I have to remove the rubber seal from our Sealand about once a year (fulltimer) and clean the crusted calcium deposit off of it. Clean and replace it and its good for another year.
