We've yet to get into that park due to popularity and size...very small. Last time I called for reservations, the lady asked me for which year...never a good sign. LOL

We've stayed at the Johnson Branch side, nice park. My only suggestion is to make SURE you have directions to the correct park. I had seen the signs on I-35 for the State Park, and not realizing there's two different units, we took the exit at Sanger (I could find the park, just follow the signs). Wrong exit for the Johnson Branch! We had to stop for directions and ended up going around the main part of the lake I guess. The exit for the Johnson Branch is just south of Valley View.
Both parks are good, and as noted busy. Saying that both offer plenty to do for a quick tour of Johnson branch go to this url (ink did not work)copy and paste
We've been to both Johnson Branch and Isle du Bois areas of Ray Roberts Lake SP. Isle du Bois is usually more full than Johnson due to the large swimming beach that they have there. If you click on my signature photolink you will find a lot of pictures for both of the parks.
Based on shade, privacy and size these are my favorite campsites:
Isle du Bois -- 96-74-102-73-58-46-51
Johnson Branch -- 15-14-56-53-45
My trailer is there now in the Isle du Bois Quail Run area with my DD and grandkids. Clean park, nice rangers that take thier job seriously. It can be hard to find a slot on 4th and end-of-school dates since it is close to the DFW area. Pull thrus are 50 amp, back in's are 30 amp. Good fishing and swimming.
