Glacier has some super webcams. They show most of the snow gone. They also show temps on some of them. Still chilly-but that sounds good when I'm sitting in Texas with 100+ temps and no rain in weeks!
We were in Logan Pass last week in shorts and tee shirts. Very nice weather last week. Stayed at KOA West Glacier. Very nice cg.

If you need hookups, the St. Mary's KOA is best. If no hookups, then St. Mary's for reservations or any one of the others if you want to wing it is great.
And yes, you will see amazing stuff at Glacier. Plenty of mountain goats and bighorn sheep, incredible mountains, great waterfalls. The hiking is fantastic.
Family that loves to camp 30 days a year! Two kids, 13 and 9
We were at Glacier June 24th - June 27th, stayed at the Many Glacier campground. Yes, there aren't any hookups, but my what a VIEW! And while there aren't any hookups, there is a dumpstation, and showers/laundry right next to the campground at the motor inn.
From there, you can take a Red bus tour over Going to the Sun, or the park shuttle to Logan pass.
As for the 8 year old, there is horseback riding, boat rentals and plenty of hikes. My favorite of the whole trip was the hike to Grinell lake. Two of our kids (10/15) enjoyed that hike. And the Many Glacier campground is next to a nice stream to kick around in.
If you wish to stay on the west side of GNP, I highly recommend Mountain Meadow RV Resort in Hungry Horse. We are here right now for a month - just a wonderful place in the woods.

We were in Glacier last week, if your east and do not mind no hook ups inside the park at either two med or many glacier is nice, many pull throughs, clean showers, and the view in many glacier or the fact that your in the park is great.
As for what to do with kids here is a short list
Snacks, and more snacks, after breaks
we found "scavenger hunts" to be helpful. I start the hike by giving them pictures of things to find. This gives them incentive (find bear grass for example (but not a bear)
At St. Mary visit the visitor center, and in all the camp grounds in the park they have a night program
take a boat ride to twin falls hike with a ranger !
