Are RVs allowed on I-295 Baltimore-Washington Parkway? What about clearance for fifth wheel? I have 12'4" overhead.
Thanks

Yes, RV's are allowed on Wash-Balt Parkway. I have done it several times with no problem and my MH is around 12ft high.

RV's are OK on I295 Baltimore/Washington Parkway. It's a nice road from Baltimore to I495 outside of DC. I wouldn't take it through DC though, it becomes a pothole filled nightmare!

When I look at a map, it doesn't look like 295 goes through DC proper-it looks like it goes around it then hooks up with 95/495 in Alexandria or thereabouts. When we stay in College Park we always take 495 to 95. If I am interpreting correctly, 295 would be a little bit shorter, if it doesn't go thru DC directly, correct?

It is about 7 miles shorter to stay on I-295 rather than taking I-495 around. I agree with sunlinesunshine and avoid this portion of I-295. Rough and not a place you would want to be if you had an accident or motor trouble. Unless they have rebuilt it lately, it is narrow in spots with a lot of merging.

Thanks, Leaddog. For 7 mile it's not worth it. We've done 495 more times than I can count-have had a mixed bag of experiences. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Aye, 295 through DC would not be much fun in an RV. Stick to the Beltway.
