Interested in attending and wonder if Adventure Caravans is the only caravan available. Any one attend on their own or is the Caravan the best way. $2,600 Seems expensive but would like to hear from experience. Thanks

I have been to Calgary, and I have been to The Stampede. I went to Calgery with the Moho and it was a great time. We went to the Canadian Rockies up to Jasper. No need for a Carravan to do that. The roads are great and there are may places to camp. You will have a great time. I have been to The Stampede, but I flew up. Another great time. Go on your own and have fun.

We went to the Stampede this summer and had a great time, we went to an RV park in Cochrane about 20 miles from Calgary Bow Rivers Edge RV Park. We stayed 8 nights and paid about $260+ canadian for the stay. The town of Cochrane was a great place to stay, a very friendly town. We were there for Canada Day and went to a Pancake Breakfast, An art festival and an evening concert.($10) The singer Arron Prichett was
one of the headliners at the Stampede.
The RV park was great, very helpful people and large clean spaces.

We would drive about 10 miles to the C-train(light rail) and park and the train would take us right to the Stampede grounds. It cost us about $10 to park and ride. The parking by the Stampede grounds is very expensive and hard to find.

We traveled through Washington to Lake Louise and then onto Calgary, the roads were fine and we have a gas RV (35 ft) and tow a CRV. Lake Louise hard sided campground was great, big sites with only Electricity. There is a 5 station dump site very near. Lake Louise and Lake Moraine were fantastic.

We had no problems going on our own.
PM us if you have any questions.

No need to use a caravan to come to the Calgary Stampede. They always set up the parking lot at McMahon Stadium (Football Stadium) for RV parking. You can catch the light rail transit right across the street which will take you right to the Stampede or downtown for the daily free pancake breakfast and free entertainment. When you buy a rodeo ticket or chuck-wagon/evening performance it includes your entry into the stampede park. Great value for a good time.

Everybody should go to at least one Stampede and you certainly don't need to do it in a caravan. Staying at McMahon sounds like a winner idea. You need to plan to be there for a good chunk of Stampede week so you can get into all the activities that happen around the Stampede. No matter where you stay riding the C-Train to the Exhibition grounds is the only way to go.

Rick and Sandy, we live in Calgary, and we own an RV Lot near Okotoks about 20 km south. This year there were a number of RV lots available, and vacant thoughout Stampede. Bow RiversEdge in Cochrane, as mentioned, is an excellent campground and you could also consider our park, Country Lane. McMahon Stadium works well too. You can order tickets for the Stampede and make sure you take in the parade on the first day, the Rodeo and the evening Chuckwagons and grandstand show. Google Calgary Stampede for all kinds of information. Consider joining the Revolution Owners Group.....

Rick and Sandy,

We used Adventure Caravans in 2007 for the beginning half of the Rodeo and enjoyed it. While we prefer to travel alone with chose AC because of the lack of accommodations in the area. The also provided the transportation, city sightseeing and very good seating at the rodeo. We also purchased extra tickets while at the rodeo. They took us to places that we probably would have missed. We also choose them because they didn't go to Banff and Lake Louise. We did the tourist thing by ourselves after the rodeo. Be sure to visit Jasper if you go north because of the scenery. Parks Canada parks are the best!

As for the price--I think it was about $1500. They offered the least and that is what we wanted.
