I live here on 53 and on weekends there are hundreds coming by here. They come by all week. It must be a good road for them. We have several great state parks close by. Amicola, Fort Mt. MO2cents
There's some great roads in that area. I've had a chance to ride quit a few. My concern is you asking this question. Are you new to motorcycling? Usually the twister the better. The roads in that area for the most part are wide two and three lane, some are even banked! You should have no problem riding at the speed limit, just ride your on ride and if a faster bike comes up on you just point him by, don't try to keep up with a faster more experience rider. Remember that and you'll have a great time!

Thanks for the good information--it helped a lot--especially from those of you who live nearby.
To Carrera Man: I can understand your questioning if we are new to motorcycling! Actually, we aren't really new, but most of the places that we ride are close to home and are open spaces and level drives. Big Bend was the first time we have taken the MC on a long trip (we towed it, but used it to get around the Park), so the terrain out there was different from here. I had been told that the area around Helen was very mountainous and the roads were narrow and curvy, so I was a little concerned. My husband, on the other hand, is fearless!
I have to agree with Carrera Man. Ride at the posted speed limit or slower if you want.
But by all means take the bike and go for a spin, you might like it more than riding around home. I know that the DW and I like riding mountains roads more than what we have around home, having ridden in both the Black Hills of SD and Yellowstone NP.
