Looking for advise on how you handle a leveling jack repair/ replace. My HWH are direct acting piston type with touch pad control. My rear left jack will not retract and must be pried up. I did the damage myself at home being careless. I called HWH and they said you can order a new jack or send the old jack back for repair and they will repair. There is a 4-6 week back log. Just wondering what procedure is the best way. Order new and can you send the old jacket for the core charge. Help is appreciated.

I am mechanically/technical challenged, but I am at a HWH certified repair center right now. My right front jack does not retract w/out the aid of my 2x4 pushing it up. I have new springs ordered, they arrived today as a matter of fact, and will be installed on Friday. I hope this resolves my problem, and a new jack is not necessary. Would it help you to take your coach to a HWH repair center? That info is on their website. Good luck, kathy

Rich,
I had one that needed rebuilding, bought a new one and sent the old back for a core credit. That way I only had to get under there once. No problems since the swap. Check to see if they have any rebuilts in stock for the size you need.

Rich,
Check with heavy equipment repair shops in your area. Our MH jacks are not much different that rams used on heavy equipment.

HWH has a backlog. So, either way (send in the old one or order new) will be the same amount of time. BUT, you will save money by having your old one rebuilt. It will be about 1/2 the cost to rebuild yours versus a new jack. Doug

Do a "search". This very topic has been discussed in the past with some very complete descriptions of what it took to change (and some good tips)...seemed they weren't that difficult......IMHO, of course

The bottom seal on the right rear HWH jack on our coach blew out about 3 months ago at the start of this trip. Found a hydraulic shop to rebuild it - cost was $137. It has worked fine since then.

Rich,
Have you tried putting new springs on? We were having trouble with the jack coming up and new springs did the trick. Since the jack goes up with applying force on it, it appears that maybe it is the springs which normally supply the push up.
