After front clearance lights stopped working, search revealed hot wire had worn through where it enters floor/wall of trailer. Hard time getting enough wire to reconnect with wire nut. Lights blinking upon return home last night, so needs further work.
Suggestions on how to get more wire loose from "inside" trailer wall so I can make a permanent splice? Wire is tight where it goes between floorboard and front wall of trailer.
When I have tight conditions with wire I do this. Use heat shrink to cover splice, slip it on first. Strip wires back about 3/8 inch, then push ends of wire into each other. Solder wire and do heat shrink. That may do the trick.
Is it loose enough inside the wall to pull it out?
You might have to disconnect the wire at the light & solder/tape on a new piece of wire & pull it from the bottom or floorboard to get you enough to splice it back in.
Used Butt Splice on both wires - discovered both hot and ground had worn where the plastic cover contacted the wires. Heat shrink was part of the spice. Everything seems to be working 100% - had to modify the plastic cover to make room for the splices.
Thanks for all the good input!
