Okay so when I turn my thermostat on in my camper, and turn the temp gauge to 80 degrees, I feel air coming out of the vents, but its not warm air it feels cold....do most furnaces run off from gas or electric? Sorry about all the questions....

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Since your fan came on. I'll assume the temp inside your trailer is below 80. Some furnaces require a certain amount of gas pressure to light. If your gas bottles are low, you may not have enough pressure. Get them filled & try again.

Just got done doing the video (posted above). I pushed the black push button on the furnace and had the pilot knob on....still nothing, maybe it is the amount of gas I have. I will have them filled tomorrow...

Don't light the water heater without water in it.

I hope you will enjoy reading my journal about my bicycle ride, camping all the way across America at www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/dean. We also RV in our '07 Starcraft Travel Star 23QB, pulled with a good old stout Isuzu Trooper. It works

Ah, yes, water...Would it be able to ignite without water though?

Yes, you could ignite it without water, but do not leave it on without water!
Once you get the pilot lit, make sure the tube is clear of any spider nests, etc. Being outside, it is easy for a critter to make it's nest in there.
I neglected to do this and you get a beautiful ball of flame coming out of the vent holes of the tube near the control. NOT cool!
I did that myself on a new(to me) trailer that had never had the water heater used for 5 years or more.

It is easy to remove that tube to make sure it isn't blocked. Put the vent back in thesame place when you re-assemble it. If necessary, you can adjust it later for a nice blue flame.
