I was just wondering if anybody has ever been in the Pigeon Forge area for Thanksgiving. We are going to be at River Plantation from Wednesday-Sunday. Im sure shopping will be crazy on Friday. Any other suggestions for things to do? What is Dollywood like that time of year?

Winterfest is interesting. Check out the Dixie Stampede and Ole Mill Resturant

We normally, at least for the last 7 years, go to Hunting Island State Park and go to the beach, but with gas prices, last year, we went to Pigeon Forge. Stayed at Pine Mountain RV Resort. Yes, Friday and Saturday, traffic was horrendous. It took us over 1 1/2 hours to go about 3 miles on Friday afternoon. Otherwise, it was cool, the DD's had a blast. We rode horses on Saturday, weather was beautiful. Headed home early on Sunday morning to beat the traffic. We were planning to do Dollywood, but then go busy with other stuff and decided not to do it. The lights in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg were beautiful, too.

Trolley is even slower than driving in traffic, due to all the stops. If your going to PF during the holiday google pigeon forge shortcuts and buy a local map when you get there and it will save you much time sitting in traffic.

We will be at River Plantation those same days. I plan on letting the wife find out how bad traffic will be. I'll be content at the camper.

We have been to pigeon forge for thanksgiving. There is just as many people there at thanksgiving as the 4th of july. But we still love it. Dollywood is wonderful this time of the year.

We plan on being there the Saturday through the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We went in June and can't wait to go back.
