I have a 08 freedom lite 279tb....it is on a keystone 280bh chassis with extras. My problem is that the slide seal does not always want to come out. I have to get on a ladder everytime I extend the slide to pull some of the seal out. This is a real pain. I learned that I had to do this after I started having a slide leak. Anyone now how to keep me from crawling up there?? I use seal lubricant and one shop already told me the slide cannot be adjusted and could not figure out the problem. Now I am at a larger shop.

If the seal just fails to pop out when the slide is deployed, yet it doesn't show any signs of leaking....As a wise man once said (actually, he said this all the time!)...What...me worry?
You can spray a bit of 303 Aerospace up there to kind of slick things up..not WD-40!

I suspect that you are talking about the wiper not the seal. The wiper is to get moisture and debris off of the slide when you retract. The actual seal is inside and doesn't "flip". I think at times they all hang up and don't flip. When mine does it I use the awning rod to flip it out if I get tired of looking at it.
If you are getting a leak then you have more serious issues than a wiper flip problem.

Not sure what you mean that the seal does not come out. Most of the seals, seal against the slide when fully closed or fully open. They have a wiper seal which, as the name indicates, wipes some of the moister off the slide on the way in. If your seal is not staying attached to the main coach, it needs replacing. What happens, over time the metal spline rusts out and won't stay in place. If the wiper is just staying tucked under that shouldn't cause a water leak.

I have the same problem from day one with my Heartland and all 3 slides if they are not flipped out it will leak. Have just got in the habit when the slide is allmost out I run my hand along the top from the inside and flip them out. Have noticed if after the slides have been extended for a while (days) they will flip out by themself but after they sit closed I have to flip them out by hand.
Some may call it a wipe but it is a seal as it is the only thing on the bottom of the slides to ack as a seal, nothing on the floor seals up against anything except for the rubber wipe as some people call it. If the bubber seal on the sides or top are not flipped out any water will run down to the bottom rubber seal and let water run in on the floor.

I, too, have the same problem with two of our slides, and have to run something down while opening to turn them out. It does seem to stop the leaking.

It was suggested to me to put anti-skid tape along the edge near the seal so that when it came out it would make it come out so that you would not have to manually bring it out.

Have thought of doing something like forty4san has in mind but had not thought of the anti-skid tape, should work as long it does not tear up the seal. Read some where on here of someone just running a bead of silicone along the top of the slide to make it flip out, just have not tried it yet.
