We do NOT like fires,.....they're primitive, unhealthy and dangerous. If a neighbor bothers us, we move. A healthy lifestyle includes freedom and mobility.

I personally wont go to a campground which wont allow us to have a fire. Yes, I have all the amenities of a 5er, but those are just nice camping sleep amenities. I spend and do most all cooking outside on the fire, since this is how we grew up! Nothing like it. Maybe you don't line smoke, and neither do I but I use all seasoned wood that I bring along and make easy and nice fires! Sorry if our fire offends you, but you know where the exit road is!

Here we go again....another classic example of those that RV only opposed to those who consider RV'ing a form of camping. Just because I own a RV doesnt mean I have to give up all those things I enjoyed while camping...I.E. a campfire and maybe a tent with a floor in it or a piece of carpet on the ground to keep dirt out. As others have noted, RV'ing to some consists of pulling into a campground, hitting a few buttons to level and get the satellite up, plug in and then never be seen again....wow what a great experience. Hence, for me, its hard to feel any sorrow for the OP in his Monaco coach wondering why most people do what they do as if there doing something wrong or specifically against them. IMHO

Not much on the fires myself, hate the smell of smoke coming thru my windows and smelling up the place. but, to each his own, if others want a fire more power to them. I just close my windows, so we have clean air and they have their fire.
As far as the rug, yes we use one. It sure helps keep the coach clean. And again, to each his own. Use one if you want, don't if you don't. Everyone can do what makes them happy.

It just isn't camping without a fire. Yes, we try to keep the smoke down, but sometimes fires smoke.
I
ve noticed that the people who don't like fires stay locked in their expensive DP's with the windoiws shut and the a/c on, to each there own.
As for the carpet... I started with a 6 x 8 peice of carpet to try to keep the outside mostly outside of my coach. At one campground, the "grass police (very nice campground host) explained "the truth" to me. I bought 2 of the big mats at camping world. I'm using them right now, in a campground that is pure and nothing but gravel. A campgound with nice grass, they stay in the basement, I just put a small doormat at the bottom of my stairs.

Personally, I like the smell of others campfires. I just can't stand most KOA's. As for the carpets, heck most KOA's haven't seen live grass in 20 years.

Well ... there is always the option of setting up a flat screen TV with a CD of a roaring campfire on it. Then you can make S'mores on one of those electric S'mores makers I have seen. A nice pine scented air freshener, and you don't have to waste the gas to go anywhere. Just sit in your drive and let the rest of us enjoy looking at the stars without worrying about you. Fires are "dangerous and primitive">>> Was that guy joking??

1 - Why do (or must) people sit around a smudge pot all night inflicting smoke throughout the entire CG and certainly negatively impacting those in proximity to the "pot"? Just doesn't make sense.
2 - Why do campers feel they have to put down a 9x12 piece of carpeting? If they wanted carpets, why not just stay home? And does nobody think about the next campers that may use that space now devoid of grass?
Maybe if I can logically comprehend these two, I can go on to even greater issues.
I think it's probably a conspiracy and they know you're coming to the campground. (They want to wreck your 'camping' experience!)
