Special message for Go Dogs , South of Pittsburgh,PA
We love COE parks and everything that the other posters have said is true. But we tried the one at Loyalhanna Lake ,west of Pittsburgh and it was pretty bad , small sites on a steep piece of land. I think that the ones on the Yough should be good although we've never camped there . Most of the ones where we've stayed at have been in Georgia or Mississippi and they are excellent.

"But the COE website doesn't differentiate between state and local campgrounds on COE lakes, and actual COE campgrounds."
Not sure which site you're looking at, but if you go to the Corps Lakes Gateway site and then select any lake, the resulting lists of recreational areas do differentiate between COE and non-COE facilities.

Thanks, Ted. I was looking at that web site but not catching the differentiation between Corp and non Corp managed sites. Actually if you just select lakes with camping, the differentiation doesn't show. But digging deeper on the individual sites does. Thanks for the heads up.

We have several here in Alabama, in fact we are going to Millers Ferry tomorrow, it is located on the Alabama river... Foscue Park in Demopolis has full hookups and is big rig friendly...We have not gotten to all of them yet but we are trying..

Shhhhh..... Stop this topic before every one learns how nice the COE campgrounds are and then I won't be able to get a non-reserved space anytime I want it. Then I have to go to some poorly maintained, loosely managed, and unpleasant campground where the facilities are not good and the sites are awkward! Yeah, we like the COE campgrounds because the ones we've tried are well maintained, well supervised, very pleasant, located in lovely areas, and have great sites and facilities. Now... Please... Stop telling other people about this!!!!!
