Apologies for the very broad question but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction or to an existing post.
Currently have a 1997 GMC Suburban 2500 and plan on upgrading to a 2004/5 crewcab truck. I'm having a tough time tracking down tow capabilities for the different models F150, 2500HD, etc.
Typically you can expect that a 250/2500(3/4) ton truck will have a GVWR or around 9000 pounds and a GCWR of right around 20,000 pounds. A crew cab anybodies gas motor 4X2 will scale ready to camp right around 7000-7500 pounds. Add 4X4 and/or diesel motor and it will scale way closer to 8000 pounds if not more. Leaving you scant actual load carrying capacity before you exceed the manufacturers GVWR.
If you are considering a crew cab, you would be wise to really consider at minimum a 1 ton SRW, if nothing else than the extra load carrying capacity.
