The last thing you want is to have a misfortune cutting your trip short.
I had a situation years ago when my old motorhome blow the engine in Ottawa about 3000 miles into 12,000 miles vacations. Would I go home at this point -I would be sorry for the rest of my life.
Renting a minivan, buying another motorhome on East Coast and driving it to CA for a profit sale a year later made vacations of my life.
Good luck on your journey. Even if you'll have to spend few dollars on duct tape, those are minor things in our lives.
We just finished a 6 week trip and I am still amazed at the idiots who merge onto the expressway while talking on their cell phone and do not even look to see what is coming in the "slow" lane. I am considering getting one of those 13db horns. They expect us to allow for them, not the other way around. I can mash down on my gas pedal without changing the speed for a good long while.
While I understand your feeling, its like a horse, you get knocked, you get right back on and ride. This past trip, I ran over a deer. Since it cracked my holding tank and fuel tank, I was wondering thinking about having to give up and cut the trip short, but thinking through a few work arounds and we kept going. Can't imaging having it cut short.
BTY: To Rouie, where the police saw the accident, I've never heard of such a thing where the cop can't fill out a report or at least be a witness. I'm not sure why he would be treated any different than any other citizen, where he could be suppeana'd as a witness. If I happen to be on the clock - making a service call, I don't get any unique treatment. Not questioning what you say, just very surprised and don't see it as reasonable or legal.

There is nothing compassionate about taking someone elses money and giving to the poor.
Now I wonder how the insurance process works? Will the insurance companies fight with each other to see who pays for what? The police officer told me the report has the woman as the cause of the accident. Does that mean her insurance has to pay for everyones damage? Does that mean she cannot sue anyone?
Also, here is something interesting. I run Delorme Street Atlas for GPS routing. The software creates a log file which I never paid much attention to...until now. I just played the log file and could see the MH route, speed and heading for my entire trip including the accident. The speed limit in this area had just reduced to 40 mph and I can see the MH was travelling at 38 mph. I never exceed the speed limit anyway, but was reasuring to see I was below the limit.

Bill,
You should have 2 options:
1. Let the at fault persons Insurance take care of everything. Sometimes this works well and sometimes there are differences (cost of repair, values of time loss, etc.)
2. Let your insurance Co. take care of everything. In this instance, your deductible will be withheld until your Co. can subrigate aganist the other Co (can take months), then your deductible will be returned.
I would try 1st. to neg.with the at fault Co. If this does not work, then go to your Co. and ask them to intervene.

That is why if I'm on a highway with three of more lanes, I don't stay in the slow lane. I set the cruise at the speed limit and stay in the middle lane. Especially true if I have the toad and I'm approaching 65 ft long. Most drivers are Morons who can't even merge with traffic, and I'm not putting my safety into their hands any more than I already have to.
I think you will find that driving a Class A requires a lot's more concentration than a car. A good spouce in the shotgun seat can also help a lot with merging. Go slow at first and get good feel for your mirrors. Learn what each of them covers and what your blind spots are. Good Luck. We all started out with our first time. It took me thousands of miles to become comfortable. I drove through Atlanta yesterday where they go 75 at least and I don't mind telling you, I was nervous.

I would go option 2. Wife had a head on this past winter where the other driver was clearly at fault. Vehicle was totaled and they gave us low, low book, which in my opinion it was not. I should have let my insurance do the talking! I forgot, that is what I pay them for.
