Need some advise on installing a 30 amp outlet for my camper. The outlet will be about 40feet from the service box and I will have to also use a 25' 30 amp extension cord to reach my 25' camper cord. My plan is to use 8 gauge wire from the service box to the 30 amp RV outlet box. Is Romex available in 8/2 with ground? Or will I have to go with single strand wire in conduit?

It will be very hard to find. Just get 8-3w/g and don't use the red wire.

First, are you going to buried it? If so put in 1/2 conduit and use 3 #10 THW stranded wire which will be alot easier to handle. Also MHO only use single pole 30 amp GFI. MO2CENTS CharWan

Can't help you with yer question. However, why stop with 30 amp service since you're using so much extension? When we built our RV driveway and installed our water and electric hookups, the cost difference between a 100' buried 30 & 50 amp service line was neglegable. More than once we've been glad we had 50 amp service installed for our camper here at the house.

Happy camping!!! See ya'll down the road!!!
