We are very close to ordering a 2010 Starcraft TravelStar(Twin of Jayco Jayfeather) and are now concerned about an issue with the beds. We used to own a Starcraft Hybrid for 6 years and never found making the beds to be a hassle, we did what many people on here do, which was for me to do one side from inside the camper and him to do the other side from the outside of the camper....now I see that on the new models, the tent ends are permanently attached to the bed frame leaving no access to the mattresses from outside the camper...while I can see some advantages of this, I can't help but see the disadvantage of the beds being difficult to make...I am hoping to hear from some owners with either a new Starcraft or Jayco and tell me what your experience has been with this. Thanks

I don't have a hybrid with the tent ends attached all around and we have never even dreamt of making the beds from the outside. No problem throwing down a sheet and then the sleeping bag on top.

So my point, this is a non-issue.

We've had our 2009 Travelstar 19CK since February and haven't had any trouble making the beds. I lower them from the outside, wife puts up the center pole and makes the bed from the inside. We haven't run into a need to access them from the outside. There's usually a small child in the middle of the bed when she's trying to make it, just for added fun.

I also make up the bed with a sheet and sleeping bag while hubby handles the outside snaps and bungee cords. I can't see any difference other than hubby has a easier job.

We also make up the beds from the inside but on our 09 Starcraft access to the corners of the matress can be had via some velcro.

Wife just folds the matress in while standing on the floor when making the beds with fitted sheets,i just throw a couple of sleeping bags on the bed and call it done.

We don't "make beds" in our campers. This is, well, camping. But can make them the same way as in your popup if you want.

Just roll these out on the beds. Probably took me longer to type this than "make" the bed.

Not shown is the fitted flannel sheet we now have on each bed. Gets washed easily and as needed.

I have an 09 Jayco 21M and while the ends can be left attached by snaps, you do not have to. Don't know anything about the 2010 model bunk ends.

Thanks everybody...when we did have our hybrid, there was no problem the many times I did make the bed from inside, but I was a little younger then, so I guess maybe that is part of my concern...we're not old but we're not spring chickens anymore either when I said "make the beds" really all I used to do anyway was a fitted sheet then toss a top sheet and blanket....so I don't think it'll be a big deal....and I also like the sleeping bag idea..thanks for the input...we are excited that we may be parting with the big 5'er and getting back to a hybrid...that's what we enjoyed most in our years of camping. Thanks again.

I'm one of those 'old' people that own a hybrid. We have a Dutchmen Sport 17 ft. I've also had two knee replacements so I'm not supposed to crawl. I put memory foam on top of the mattress to help with my husbands sore shoulders. I then throw the sheet towards the back of the mattress and I lay down and roll to each end and hook the sheet on the back corners. Then pull the sheet towards the front and finish making the bed. It's not hard that way (I keep the windows shut till I'm done! LOL) Of course, if any Grandkids are with us I beg them to do it.

Found out today, this won't be an issue....didn't realize that on today's hybrids, the whole screen unzips also and not just the solid material piece(hope that makes sense)...when we had our Hybrid years ago(year 2000), the screen itself did not unzip, just the solid piece unzipped and the screen part was permanently attached....so no worries if I need to access the mattresses from outside....I know many don't do this, we just always found it easier to attach the sheet with one person inside and one person out.
