Mine old WH had problems staying lit for several outings. I kept taking the spark rod out to clean it and that would keep it working til the next trip. The porcelain insulator had a dark mark that wouldn't clean off - carbon tracking. I tried cleaning all the connections and even added a large ground wire from the module to the rod and nothing worked long term til I replaced the rod. Atwood $35, ebay $5 delivered. Cleaning the ground connections is also important cuz the module gets a 1/2 wave rectified signal thru the flame that is measured in microamps - yeh, millionths of an amp. Mine works flawlessly again. Craig
The Atwood water heater circuits are sealed in a block of black epoxy. What you are describing is also a sympton of a bad board. It happened to mine. I borrowed one off my neighbor to prove it was the issue. I swapped it out and all was fine.
