Generally good experience in Madison. I watched them try to help people who were traveling and needed immediate help with a tow car problem. I gave up my spot as I live in town and it wasn't an emergency. Camping World thanked me, not the customer who I helped, and Camping World got the job done. When I returned the customer was complaining about the price which was very fair in my judgement. The staff never lost their cool and they could have as this guy was a cheap jerk. It is nice to have a good supply in town.
I call it the "invisible customer syndrome", but it really is them ignoring us! At the La Mirada Store, I go probable once a month to peruse whats new. And routinely while the employees are stacking new merchandise, I have observed them walking directly in front of a customer, who happens to be standing looking at items on a shelf or display, and start stocking or hanging new stock up right in the line of sight of the customer! The customers look pretty POed and will move on and/or leave! Rude!
If a customer is obviously looking around for help, suddenly the formerly "standing right in front of you" employee vanishes like a wraith! Poof!
I recently was talking to a WalMart Area Manager in Orange County at a WalMart that was undergoing a extensive remodel. In addition to new, lower shelves, wider aisles, more lighting, brighter colors and cleaner stores, WalMart was re-inventing the Employees as well. He claimed that WalMart was spending millions on this transformation, in light of how strong the competition is (he alluded to Target!). I did notice a difference in a few of the employees I saw, one even dropped everything she was doing to walk me several department over to find an item for me. Of course we need to see how long this behavior lasts!
But Camping World needs to blame only themselves if they can't improve their image among us RVers! Having a huge stock of RV related goodies is nice, but lower prices and friendly, knowledgeable employees is what pulls me and you in to their stores also!
I don't order from them any more. I found that I can get things cheaper from my local dealer and not have to pay for a club price or pay for freight. In the past two years I have read a lot of unhappy posts about CW. CW is not the only RV place on this planet, there are plenty of others that want your business.
Tom&ReneeMathison wrote: Just wondering if anyone has had problems with Camping World. The only one we have any experience with is in Council Bluffs, Iowa. At my last visit, the facility had a number of highly upset people including us. The time before last was very similar. Their customer service is far less than satisfactory. Any one else have similar problems or is this just us? thanks

Local store (Statesville NC) staff is very friendly. Prices are good. Good inventory. Price & service are better than any other locally owned stores.
Myrtle Beach SC store (Hwy 544) I visit 4 or 5 times a year. Most staff are campers & very knowledgeable & friendly. Prices are better than the other parts stores in the area. Some of their prices are even cheaper than the local Wally World which stocks many camping items.
Been in the Charleston SC store twice, it was neat and reasonably stocked. The staff was visible without being intrusive {sorry, I like to look around!} Check out was always staffed with nice folks.
But, CW corporate did sell my name to GS...not crazy about that.
My last RV service experience with a CW resulted in a hole drilled through the wall of my motor home while installing a window awning. At 1st they tried to deny they did it and then when the tech admitted he did, they wanted to hang an indoor/outdoor thermometer over the hole on the inside wall. Needless to say they do not touch my RV now.

I have had many experiences with CW at both their Rocklin and Vacaville (both in CA)stores. Their service people are smarmy and incompetent. As an example, their service guy told me that the fuel pump on my generator was bad and needed to be replaced ($500). When I took it to a professional Onan dealer, it turned out to just be out of adjustment ($80). By the way, this happened just after I had CW do a service on the generator.
Also, the last two times I went to just purchase a few standard items, it took FOREVER to get through the checkout line. I don't have any problem with hiring seniors, but at least ensure that it doesn't take 20 minutes for them to process a simple exchange.
No.............. I am not against older folks.......... I am 65.
