That was just the seaweed. From what I've heard it is not like that all year, but it really didn't bother us at all. The one picture shows the tide out so it looks worse than it was.

We were in Site #72, 18'th thru the 27'th, very sunny 90% of the time. Would not want this site during summer months. Had a Florida resident there to entertain us most of the week. A six foot Black Racer lives in the two huge bushes that front the patio. Got to watch folks trying, no luck, to catch fish with all their expensive fishing rigs. Friday before we left a family came in around 6:00 with white bread and cane poles. Fish were litteraly fighting to get on their hook. Caught and released 20 some fish in an hour.

Long Key is great, hope to go back next year. Stayed at site #53. Looks somewhat open now that they have removed the non-native plants.

The site in the pictures is #57 and was taken after they removed the trees, so there is still some vegitation left. However, I seem to remember there were less as you went down in numbers.

Emerald Beach RV Park in Navarre just a short distance west of Destin on Hwy 68. Has its own private beach and a mile away is the HUGE public beach of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. They are pure white beautiful sand, clean, safe with lifeguards every 50 yards, rental chairs, umbrellas, restaurant on the beach. You can't go wrong. We stayed there are week this past July.
