Everyone is focusing on the new Diesel...mostly divided into 2 groups...those that are anxiously waiting with anticipation (me) and the other group praying for Ford to fail at it's first all Ford designed and manufactured F series diesel in 30 years.

But not as well known, and certainly as interesting..the also all new from the ground up 6.2 L shows that Ford is not sitting on their hands when it comes to the folks that prefer gasoline either!
400 HP and 400 lb ft torque at a modest 5500 rpm means this will become a real towing beast...and the biggest bonus is better fuel mileage. And finally catching up to the superb truck engines that Chevy and Dodge have had for years! Roush is now in the process of testing for Ford a slightly bored out 6.2...with 700 HP!

The new 6.2 will appear in the new Expedition and the new F150 Raptor first, then the F250/350/450 series, and the E250/350/450's as well for the RV industry.

700 HP... now there's an engine that would let me use cruise control on the uphill climb! I wonder if I could get a 53 foot fiver to do it justice??

BTW Sooper.. glad to see you're still here!!

Hi,

Ford makes millions of diesel engines. Not selling any of their Ford engines in American cars though, they sell them by the thousands in Europe, sell them in tractors, and cars and trucks in Australia.

I can't wait to see the new engines in action. In testing they have put on thousands of miles so far.

Fred.

Better get it in the F250, at least. I don't think the F150 can handle the weight of a 53 footer, unless its extremely aerodynamic, as in hovercraft. You don't want to fire up the weight police.

Remember, safety first.

Linky?

Is the 6.2L an OHC engine? Why are they replacing the 5.4L, and 6.8L engines?

What makes it different from the modular engines?

Regrding diesel engines in general: Since 2006 which was the last pre emision model diesel engine available, we've gone from requiring "ultra low sulfer diesel fuel" to now very shortly, being forced to stuff "Cow Pee" (urea) down the throat of our new diesel engine's.

As for me, I'm searching for a 2003 or older Ford 1 ton CC DRW 7.3 or 2006 or older Dodge CC DRW 1 ton Cummins. I don't want anything to do with DPF's, Cow Pee, or who know's what next the tree hugger's will be making us stuff into our diesel engines. Meanwhile, the rest of the world belches out enough diesel emissions to make seeing more than a block away nearly impossible.

As for the new gasser's! Well that'll be great for those who what a gasser. IMHO: For heavy duty towing duties, there's diesel; and then everything else.

Happy camping!!! See ya'll down the road!!!

The new PSD stays a OHV 4 valve pushrod, and the new gasser is a 2 valve SOHC.

Sorry, but comparing a gasser to a diesel just doesn't work, no matter how hard you try. There is NO comparison!
