Well, we got our first rain fall since arriving here. While walking the Kid’s (IN THE RAIN), I started thinking about you’all. Especially you folks living up North.
Rain coat on, I took the Kids out. Harlee did her thing and wanted back in the rig. Calvin however is another story…LOL Yes, I am soaked from the jeans down…sheezz
Time sure fly’s…it seems like it was a month ago when you’all were posting about your dismay having to walk the Kid’s in the snow and all of the Land Mines after the melt down.

PS We're located in the center of a big mud puddle. No drive way or side walks in sight.....

What is worse is five months without measurable precip. I know we got "rain" today because I saw three splat marks in the dust on my windshield. So far nothing but that and a lot of blowing sand...
My oldest cat is happy though, with the cooler weather the heater is coming on, and where the vent is under the armoire in my room, she has her own little kitty sauna.
The snow is not that bad but the below freezing temp is the worst! The older you get the more it goes threw you. That why we have so many Snowbirds and winter Texans here in Michigan.
Rain or snow? Well, it depends on the time of year! LOL If it's cold out and winter, snow is not a problem. Dog is hardly even wet (if it's not actually snowing at the time she goes out). She LOVES to roll around in the snow, catch snowballs, etc. Certainly can't do that in the rain, so according to Maddie, SNOW is much better (and more fun!).
If it's springtime, when the snow is melting, then we tend to have a mess and she needs to be wiped down when she comes in because she's a mess, and even has splatters on her belly! Not fun.
Rain isn't bad sometimes, but she needs to be wiped off every time.
I guess when it comes to rain or snow, I'd have to pick snow when it's cold out, but only when it comes to letting the dog out! LOL
Heavy rain is pretty yucky but then again so is the constant drizzle rain we've had the past few days. Not really raining enough to stay inside but everything is wet and soggy enough to get a dog damp & dirty and me, too! At least with snow I can take a towel to them in the garage and that gets most of the mess off of them.. well except for those snow balls all over their legs that take a while to melt.
Yep, I vote for both making a mess, just a different kind of mess.

I'll take the snow. It doesn't leave dirty dog feet in the house! The weather right now is lousy-cold and damp. If it's going to be that way, let it get below freezing so the ground stays hard.
I would take SNOW over RAIN any day! I don't like rain, especially when it rains for days on end as it has done for the past month or so. As a matter of fact, it is pouring as I write this!
Snow, on the other hand, is a rare treat for us in this part of the country. We might get one small snow during the winter, and we're all like a bunch of kids!
We are in the same mess you are. We are in Bakersfield and though we did not have rain, we have been hit with the winds from this storm. We pulled in the bedroom slide as it was getting a direct hit from the wind and the slide topper was flapping around.
Our stick home is in the S.F. Bay Area and we have seen the news from that area. They have been hit very hard with rain and in some places several inches or more. We noticed that the power was out in the area of our home, so we called our answering machine and it answered. Whew! We have a fish tank and were worried that the filters and heater were not working.
As far as rain or snow. I have only seen snow in the Bay Area a few times during my lifetime. However, I do have experience because I used to ski.
I am so sorry for your puddle/mud pond at your site. That has to be very miserable. Here is hoping that this storm will pass tonight and that “The Clan” will be back to normal in no time. Try to keep Calvin’s feet dry... Guess Harlee has more experience with such matters!

The WORST is Freezing Rain... too slippery to walk, dogs slip and fall and don't like to pee on the frozen ground... Sometimes it causes long power outages (we were out one time for 9 days)... impossible to drive in... YUCK.
