We thought about going to Homestead, until we saw the price for camping at the track. We usually camp at Daytona for $220 during the summer race. We missed Daytona this summer and went to Atlanta instead. The tickets for the cup race were $39 and my son's ticket was $19. Camping right outside the track was $150 for reserved. We had a great time and will go back next year. It is a drive to get back to work after the race, but we really enjoyed the trip! The Daytona 500 and Homestead are both way overpriced. We are looking forward to the Atlanta race and maybe Talladega next year. I also would much rather watch the NASCAR drivers than go to a BUCS game!!! Oh wait, I think we might be the YUCKS again! Cheapest ticket is $79 and no break on price for kids.

Very interesting comments.....
We have attended 6 races this year and got our spots off eBay for every race, except Texas. We have a spot in the VIP CoachNet camping area and are Speedway Club members. We are considering driving all the way down to Homestead this year. As far as I'm concerned the people who posted the negative comments can skip the races, doesn't bother me. We go have a great time and spend close to $2000 per race all inclusive. Great people and great racing.
Of course I could spend $1000+ for 3 hours in two decent seats at Jerry's Palace to watch the Cowboys or $1000+ for 2 hours in decent seats at the AA to watch the Mavericks. I go to the races because I enjoy it. If I liked Football or Basketball as much I would probably spend the same to watch one of those games. But I don't patronize gun carrying idiots, dog tormentors or druggies. Hillbillies I can tolerate.

That would actually make NASCAR worth watching in my opinion.

I wanted to go to Seattle for the NHRA race. Tickets to camp$930. Then you have to buy tickets to get in. I think not Can go to Pomona the next weekend for $130. Save a bunch of money, get to see DW Aunt and Uncle much better deal. Some day they are going to realize that they are just pricing the normal people out of attending.

For that kind of money, I could get an all inclusive to the Caribbean and Tivo the other events.

pusherpilot wrote: Just watched the race at Fontana, Ca. The infield was jammed with RVs and I'll be the same is true for Homestead. Talked to a couple of folks who did it and their comments were that is was better than any rally they've ever been to. Lots of free food and entertainment for their entry fee and you get to rub elbows with the NASCAR guys and gals too. If you're a fan it's the way to go. Don't buy the ticket, watch the race on your Sat Dish on Hi-Def out of the blazing sun and tailgate thru the whole thing. The comments I heard was that the race is an anti-climax, kind of a non-event compared to everything else that happens. It would be interesting to hear from those who've actually done it for balance.
OBTW, I'm a NASCAR fan but not rich enough to do the infield thing.
