Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

I already have Trend Micro virus protection but am wondering if the system will conflict having more then one program gaurding against viruses.

You can have as many antivirus programs as you want. However, you should have only one of them do real-time scanning. With two running, each could think the other is a virus.

You could use any of them to do full scans.

Any virus program is only as good as it's last update. Keep any or all your programs updated for best results.

One anti-virus at a time or they will conflict.
As many 'spyware' programs as you want will be fine.

Agreed. Antivirus programs didn't go to kindergarten and don't play well together.

I un-installed AVG (used for many years now) and installed Microsoft Security Essentials (just because it was there and at the time was just trying to kill a few hours). I could always un-install and go back to AVG anytime.

Well, it seems to work well and is not resource intensive after 5 days and counting.

Running two different virus protection systems at one time is like running simultaneous races in different directions.
