I havent come across this air conditioner before. The claims seem outlandish to me, but I havent done any research to either validate them or dispel them.

A 3 ton unit that only uses 625 watts to operate? Seriously? If thats true, I want to know how we can downsize it for rv's.

here's a couple snips...
Quote:

Qty 1 High Tech STM30VS 625 Watts With Patented Heat And Mass Exchanger Technology, a high efficiency, variable speed, electronically commutated motorized (ECM) impeller. and an EER Rating Of 40+ while using 90% less energy than conventional air conditioning technology. Provides 100% fresh, filtered air, dramatically improving indoor air quality while removing dust, pollens and allergens. Includes Programmable Thermostat.

Quote:

Incredibly a 5 ton single air conditioner using his patented technology can cool 3,000 sq ft of building space while only using only 1/3 the power of a hair dryer, saving you up to 90% in energy costs without adding moisture to the conditioned space.

Looks like it needs a water supply. Works on a swamp cooler principle.

I've skimmed through the web site and a few things concern me.

1. They claim the technology was invented by a russian scientist who defected to the USA a decade ago - hmm, 10 years ago they could walk across the border and visit any country they wanted. The only 'defections' within the last 10 years were embassey officials.

2. The technology is all ravelled up in 'cleverSpeak' but appears to be a swamp cooler with a heat exchanger which prevents the humid air from entering the building but is even less efficient than a regular swamp cooler as a result.

3. The BS about it being solar powered is amusing - they slap a couple of solar panels on and an inverter to power the pump/fan to help reduce the grid power being used and call it Solar Powered.

I can't see any claims anywhere as to it's cooling ability but I suspect that it's going to be pretty dismal compared to compressor AC.

there are compressor Ac's that are in (2) pieces, that use less power than RV units and are designed for OFF grid installation very efficient using variable speed compressors and fans, there have been a few posts about them in this forum.

all the markings of a scam IMHO.
Unless it is a swamp cooler, it aint' gonna happen.

Market speak aside, it does look like the proccess is a valid one- you can read more about it here.
It looks like it can cool below what a swamp cooler can, though here in Florida in the summer, cooling to near the dew point wouldn't cut it too well.

To paraphrase an AC expert

"They have not "created" another energy cycle that improves on the Carnot Cycle - yet another false claim. Their only advantage over a common swamp cooler is that they don't dump all that humidity into your house. And remember this - if you are in an area with high humidity levels, the thing will function very poorly."

I always find it interesting to read how someone just discovered a new cooling technology that's been around for thousands of years. As I'm reading thru there info, the first indication that Houston has a problem was when they referred to "fluid and air dynamics" as any HVAC&R engineer knows that air is a "fluid".

There old process is actual valid and will preform well under "some" conditions and there lie's the kicker, "some conditions".

This process is nothing other than a high temperature chilled water system. Outside air is drawn in over coils that contains water and that water is cooled by evaporation in a liquid/air heat exchanger.

Indoor air is then drawn over the liquid/air heat exchanger too extract cooler room air. At this point, efficiency would be based upon if the process exhausted the room air thru open windows like a typical evaporative cooler does(lower efficiency) or recirculates the room air(higher efficiency).

Under ideal working conditions, one can achieve approx 30ºf delta on a direct exchange conversion process(aka evaporative cooler) but this will drop too approx 20ºf delta when the liquid/air heat exchanger is used from heat exchanger transition loss(recirculated/exhausted room air).

A typical human feels comfortable at 70ºf@50%r.h. At 70ºf@30%r.h. a sweater would be needed where at 70ºf@70%r.h. one would be naked trying to keep cool. Room humidity plays a huge roll in ones comfort.

That's where this process is lacking overall efficiency as the process has poor performance for dehumidifying room air. The refrigeration process dehumidifies the room air very efficiently.

Chilled water systems do work very well provided that the water temperature is well below the rooms dew point temperature.
