We are currently camping at MBSP and will be heading south to Edisto or Hunting Island. For those of you who have been to both would appreciate opinions as to which campground you prefer. Which would be better for wildlife photography? Appreciate any guidance you could give us.

Edisto only if you can get into the campground next to the beach, they have two. We prefer Hunting Island. Both are nice, just easier to get a site at Hunting Island within walking distance to the beach than at Edisto. Edisto has a smaller campground near the beach, the overflow campground is a distance away and is mostly woods. No shortage of wildlife for your pictures at Hunting Island, deer everywhere, raccoons too.

We prefer Edisto....in the beach-front CG. The loop at the end is open and sunny, very pleasant when we're there in cooler weather. You can take a look a look at some pix and comments at:

We prefer Hunting Island. We really love that campground and the whole park. But Edisto is nice too.

Both are nice, but my vote would be for HI. The vegetation is so different at HI. It is very tropical. We just completed a trip there and saw raccoons (up close and personal), dolphins, alligators, deer, and lots of waterfowl.

And again, another vote for Hunting Island. we just returned from our first trip out there, and spent two weeks. Before we left, we started planning our next trip there.
Camping there allows you free access to fishing pier, and all state park property located there. Only additional charge is $2.00 to go up into the lighthouse.
Scenery, beach, rangers, campground hosts are all very good. If your camper is on the large side, there are only a few spots that I would not recommend. Our site was 189, 65 ft by 50 ft, easy manuever, and 5 minute walk to the beach.
Very lovely area in our opinion. Fishing was good also!

Both are nice but we prefer Hunting Island. The beach there is great and I think the sites are a little larger for the most part.
