I think we ALL should be doing 55 - Why speed and waste gas???

Like H&E said at 55 I cant get into high gear or stay in high. So therefore its a waste of gas. At 55 im turning almost 2500 RPM's and at 65 Im running around 1900 RPM which is better fuel milage for me. I be running at least 65 where posable.

hpk

Same here.

Imo the speed limit change for trucks etc. has been needed here for quite some time. Illinois has, however, a very strict construction zone law which I am in favor of. It is frustrating driving 55 or 45 depending on the proximity of workers, when no construction is in sight but they will ticket you for exceeding the construction zone limits by a very small margin and the fines are heavy.

Personally, I drive when towing on divided highways between 60-65 and set my cruise when going through the construction zones at, or slightly below the limit.
