It will run the one on our Scamp, but I do not consider it a standard AC. It is a small unit as is the Scamp. It would be my gut feeling for a more standard sized unit you would be better off with a Honda 3000. IMHO.

as per posts on this forum the answer is NO. the A/C has to be smaller than a 13K. if you connect two 2000's together the answer moves up to YES.to run an A/C you will need something over 3000K gen set.

Some here have had favorable results using the Honda 2k genny with a 13.5 roof-air when the Supco hard-start kit is installed.
I use a Yamaha 2400 genny and with the Supco kit, it runs my 15k air.
Even though the Yamaha is heavier, I believe it's benifits outweigh the extra weight.

Numerous people, including myself, have reported on this forum that they routinely run a 13,500 btuh air conditioner with a single eu2000i. The highest success rate appears to be with Brisk Air units. To be successful you have to tightly manage the RV's AC loads, which is not for everybody. The big problem is that you don't know the answer without trying it on your own rig, so buying an eu2000i with the need or intent of running the air conditioner is pretty risky. For myself, I didn't expect it to work and it wouldn't have been a hardship if it hadn't. In a few other cases, the users have dual eu2000i generators and tried with one just for the heck of it and it worked. In other cases it didn't.

This subject is covered thoroughly about every six weeks and the answer is usually "Yes". I, like most folks, run my Dometic 13,500 btu AC with no problem. The only requirement is that other loads like water heaters, microwaves, converters, etc. must be off at the time. Mine draws about 10.5 amps which is well within the normal operating range of Honda 2000i. It may not do so well at 10,000 ft elevation or if I want to make coffee at the same time.

my case would be one of the ones that didn't. Our trailer has the Dometic 13.5k AC.

Hi ttyuille,
Get a Kill-o-watt meter and measure what the air conditioner draws while running. Double the measured "run" wattage to get the surge value, and compare that to the surge value on the Honda 2000. If surge is low enough then the Honda will run your air conditioner.
I chose a different route designed a system to allow me to run my air conditioner from an inverter. That means I can use as small as a 1000 watt generator if I so wished. For details, surf here:
Technology
and click on "Solar boondocking".
