We are looking at a 02 Intrigue 36 2 slides with 400 Cummins seem to be real clean. It has 38.000 miles. Dealer wants 129,000 (high according to NADA)
I know Country Coach is in the toilet now, looking for input (pro or con) and advice on what to look for as we go over the coach.
Thanks,

That is WAY too high...I would not trust the dealer very far if that is his idea of a fair price.

As replied to you on the CC board the coach is way overpriced! I can provide you with some recently sold comps that show the coach is too high. Much better deals out there unless they will sell it around 80k or so depending on condition.

Looks like everyone has told you the coach is overpriced. OK, so what, that is the starting price, go from there.

We have an '02 40ft Intrigue and can say the coach is bullet proof. The problems you will find are:

The clear coat will be peeling from the roof, no big deal, it can be fixed pretty cheap.

If the batteries are original, the house batteries will probably need replacement. We installed Lifeline AGMs for both house and chassis.

If the tires are the original Toyo, they will need replaced because of age.

I did replace the alternator at 80,000 miles because it went south. Probably could have had it rebuilt but I was on the road at the time so elected for a new one. Still have the original to rebuild.

The cooling system will need a flush with new coolant installed. I would do this even if the owner says it has been done.

Change the air dryer as you don't know how the coach has been driven in what climate.

Have a complete fluid change.

Check the slide seals. The steel fingers that hold them to the frame rust and let the seal loose. It can be glued back to the frame, no problem.

Don't worry about the company being in the toilet. A lot of former employees have started their own businesses and are very successful in maintaining Country Coaches. Besides, everything on the coach is out of warranty anyway.

I see you are on the CC Yahoo groups where you will find a lot of good info. On this BB, there aren't a lot of CC owners so a lot of info will not be good.

Any questions, PM me.

there is a four digit number stamped on each tire. The first two numbers are the week, and the last two are the year. For example, 1302 would mean the tire was made in the 13 week of 2002.
