I ordered my new Arctic Fox 25S from Thunder RV. They've been great but they are located just outside the Arctic Fox factory in La Grande, OR and I'm in the San Antonio area -- 1,950 miles away.

When I ordered, the 25S was on the Northwood schedule for Oct/Nov. Then it slipped to Nov maybe December. But when I spoke to Northwood last week it was now more firmly set for Christmas or the week after.

I had always planned on driving up to La Grande and bringing the new trailer home with me. I've never done a road trip without my DW and the idea of my dog and I on a 7 to 8 day 4,000 mile trip sounded fun.

It still does, but the timing just plain sucks.

Due to Christmas and my daughter's birthday the soonest I could go would be Jan 1st. Ok, not much is happening at my work (self-employed) that first week of the year. But winter weather the first week of Jan isn't very encouraging for camping on the way home (nor driving long distances).

Then on Jan 15th my wife and I head to Hawaii for 2-weeks to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary.

So, see, the timing really does suck.

I'm still leaning toward doing it, but I've started to look at having the trailer delivered. Thunder says they'll deliver it for $1.50 a mile (one way) or just under $3,000. I figure driving will cost me $1,200 round trip. So, I'm only saving $1,800. But still that will pay my sales tax.

Does anyone here have any good delivery companies to recommend? Others to avoid? So far the one I've found online is showroomtransport.com. They put the trailer on a trailer and deliver it -- not drive it behind a truck.

Any help is appreciated.

Can't help with any suggestions, but it would of been nice to pick it up yourself, and do an inspection before you left there. I guess you can't wait and pick it up, because you'd really been in the dead of winter. I think their prices are pretty much the going rate from what I've heard for transporting it. I see you like guitars, I just bought a Gibson Studio fireburst/gold hardware for my son Saturday, should be delivered this week ,I can't wait to see it, and of course try it out myself. Good Luck!

With the poor sales in the rv market I am surprised that that your order keeps getting kicked back....I worked for a company one time that would not deliver orders that had been paid for but would deliver to those that they wanted to collect from.......I quit working there because of shenanigans like that...

Northwoods doesn't seem to be having those kinds of problems. It seems to be supply related and other models in the pipeline ahead of the 25S.

I was going to purchase a 25S because I didn't think I wanted to deal with a slide out but when I heard that there were not enough orders to schedule a build of 25S's, I ordered the 25R. DW wanted a slide and we are happy with the increased room. I wanted to pick up my unit in the summer and our unit was built on July 12, and we picked it up in Maple Grove, MN on August 14, 2009. Nice TT.

We went back and forth on the slide, but in the end it was our tow vehicle that made the decision for us. We didn't want to replace our TV at this time. But the slide adds a lot of weight.

And, we had an Arctic Fox 22H for the past 8 years so we're real happy with the size of the trailer as is. We just wanted a walk around bed.
