I have a 2008 Itasca Sunstar. When I use the auto level for the leveling jacks the coach is not as level as I think it should be. I can place a super ball on the floor and it rolls towards the back of the coach. Additionally the bathroom door swings open as well.

I currently have it in for service (it goes off manufactures warranty in a month) and the service center said "these things just get level - not level, level".

Is this true? If so, how much out of level is acceptable? Like most of us I use the refrigerator and do not want to burn that out.

Thanks,

Level is when you are sober and do not feel like the coach is tilted. And the frig will tolerate out of lever way more than you will put up with while in the coach. To make you more comfortable, just manually raise the rear a little until the bath room door will not swing either way.

Level is what comfortable to you. The automatic level can be adjusted to a point that the floor is actually level. All you need to do is find the autolevel's leveling control. Dealer should be able to do this in a heartbeat.

2007 Itasca Sunova 26P ~~ When leveled by 'auto' on leveling jacks unlatched bathroom door swings to open position resting against outer corner of shower. This provides a 'closure from living room/kitchen area and creates a bedroom/bath 'suite'. Was told that was the purpose of the swing. YMMV

As far as today's RV fridges go (which I assume is one of your concerns), it would have to be very unconfortably out of level for the fridge to be affected (like 5" side to side, and over a foot end to end).

Those that insist that you must level the fridge from inside the freezer as it may be 1/2 degree out of level from the counter top are WAY to anal and wasting valuable camping time.

What brand leveling jacks do you have?

On my PowerGear jacks, it seemed like when it auto leveled the nose was a little low, and the left side was significantly low. For the first two years, after it leveled, I just put it in manual mode a tweaked it a little. Turns out, there is a calibration mode where once you get it level, you enter a special key combination on the keypad, and it re-calibrates itself.

Now, when it levels, it can be a little off in one direction or another, depending on which way it was leaning to begin with. There is a little bit of a tolerance. But it's so much better than it was.

So, let us know what you have, and maybe someone will have the recalibration instructions to help you out.

Ask the deaaler to adjust the "Autoleveler control device". It is a device that has three spring loaded screws that can be adjusted one screw at a time so the the front shuts off sooner as it is now going too high, ( I think they use mercury switches to accomplish this) raising the front end more than it needs to. I would read the owners manual, looking in the index, and maybe you can find the section about this and show it to the dealer. Or look at the web site for instructions. Also post the brand levelers that you have and maybe someone will reply. I had HWH levelers and they had this device.

When the PDF comes up, scroll down to page 30 to see sensor

Now Power gear has a different system. Read about it here.

I like to level with the stove, like my eggs and cooking to stay in the center of the pan, makes for easier cooking. If that level, then everything else if fine.

I used a bullseye level in the frig to fine tune my leveling. The frig is the only thing that really needs to be level and is the only thing that is actually put in plumb. In our first MH I used the bathroom door - level it up so that the door stayed in a neutral position. It would be nice if they would level the cook top too as I agree that it would be nice to have my eggs stay in the middle of the pan!
