Ok - stupid me - I accidentally ordered the wrong Flying Insect Screen for my frig. Camco has two models - 42148 Norcold and 42149 for Dometic.
I have a Norcold, but ordered the Dometic and it is too late to cancel. They look exactly the same from the pic - how much difference is there in size on the two service doors? Can I mod these to fit the Norcold or am I going to have to re-order?

They are different and not interchangeable.
But.... simply hot gluing screen on the inside works better.

Good Advice Chris!
What size screen would You advise using? Regular door screen seems a bit too Fine would some 1/4 " Hardware Cloth be a better choice or is that too Coarse? Maybe 1/8 would be about right!

If you can find 1/8th" hardware cloth(screen) it would be about right, enough airflow but small enough to keep out the mud daubers, cluster flies and yellow jackets.

On this topic, you think the same idea will work for the hot water heater also? Or would it restrict the hot air flow too much?

I don't know what the btu output is of a water heater although I've run a bare hand alongside the trailer just above the vent, it doesn't get hot. I do however use the commercialy made stainless screen that goes over the furnace exhaust and it's about 1/8th" square to keep the mud daubers out. I suppose if you cut out the perforated area on the metal heater cover and then replaced it with the hardware cloth, it would be okay. Next problem, how much road dust and crud would get in there while underway, maybe have a removeable cover.

Beekeepers use the same type screen in their hives for some bottom boards. If you have a local independent hardware store or farm supply check there for some and buy it by the foot. I bought a 1' X 3' piece for ±$8.

I put 1/8" hardware cloth in my fridge vents and over the opening in my hot water heater after getting bees in my fridge compartment. I bought the Camco screens for my furnace.
