I need some advice from those that have knowledge on factory replacement shocks. I have a 2007 Chev 3500 DRW Duramax with factory shocks. I am looking to replace them with aftermarket shocks. My load is a 07 Host Tahoe DS. I am looking for support/stability in the rear-end with a comfortable ride in the front. Not looking to add air bags or springs, just looking to upgrade the shocks. Any advice or particular experiences for or against certain models and or brands would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Tom

I changed out my oem shocks for the Rancho manual adjustable shocks. The only mod I've done that actually improved my ride over the oem setup.

I replaced the factory shocks with Rancho shocks with incab controls. The only problem I have had is the control system leaking air, requiring using the compressor to reset the shocks. The adjustability enables us to have a softer ride empty, but good control loaded.

I replaced mine with Rancho's when the truck only had 6000 miles on it,you'll be shocked (pun intended) at the difference in ride, also added timbrens at the same time and with that heavy of a load, you might look into more help carrying it at least on the rear

I have the same truck (except 2007 GMC with SRW's). Our camper weighs almost 4,000 lbs wet and loaded. Replaced the original shocks with KYB Monomax. It made a huge difference. When the camper is on, there is no more sway or porpoising whatsoever. In fact, I now see no need for an anti-sway bar. There is no sway. Some folks favor Rancho's or Bilstein's and I think an upgrade to any premium shocks would be an improvement over the factory originals. You will get a little bit rougher ride when the truck is empty (hey, it's a truck) but the tradeoff is worth it. -Mark.

I have two trucks one with Ranchos adjustable and the other with KYB Monomax shocks. They all perform well but so far I favor the KYB's.

are the KYB's covered for life of the truck? I couldn't beleave how wimpy of a shock it came with being a 3500 next to the Rancho's

I've had Bilsteins and adjustable Ranchos. They both work equally well and are both much better than whatever shocks the factory provided with the truck.

I'm running Edelbrock shocks. They're self adjusting and seem to do they're job well. They also have a lifetime warranty.

Get the Rancho's, set them the way you want and never think about it again.
