Since the key combinations differ from model to model it may be helpful to provide the laptop Make and Model!

It is in your display properties. go to control panel, then display, then monitor choice. If you are plugged into your TV it will show up on your computer. Select dual view for both or single for whichever one you want.

Fn & F5 on Toshiba Satellite. Most Laptops show the icon on the top of the Function keys.

Fn + F7 on my 5 year old Sony Vaio. I figured that out looking at the symbols on the keys.

My HP has the symbol on F4 key too ... but I don't have a S-VHS connection on my laptop to connect to a TV.

Thanks for the tips! I have a Toshiba Satellite and it was the Fn + F5. Also a good tip about going thru the control panel. I didn't know this was not universal to all computers. Now I know.
