Quote: Legal or not what is the necessity of carrying a handgun in an RV? Has any one really needed to have or use one? I am not anti gun just fail to understand the big deal about having them with you all of the time.
Do you have a fire extinguisher in your RV? Ever need to use it? Do you know anyone who has? Probably not. To many having a firearm is just the same, better to have it and not use it then not have it and need it. Whatever makes you sleep better at night.
Some say the fire extinguisher would work just as well as a gun in a like situation.

Far off the subject and it is doubtful that many less would have been injured or dead if some more had been armed. Other than carrying weapons for training Fort Hood was supposed to be gun free. Again how many have found a real need for a gun in an RV

I'd love to hear your theory to back that statement up Other than carrying weapons for training Fort Hood was supposed to be gun free. Now that was a stroke of genius on Clinton's part wasn't it? Again how many have found a real need for a gun in an RV. I'll expand on what another here said .. I haven't found a need for a propane detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, spare tire, or manual crank for my electric tongue jack yet, but I carry all that stuff

When we were camping in Knoxville, Tn Our tow vehicle was stolen when
recovered there were a couple of Crack pipes in it. The cops told us to leave immediately and count our blessings it wasn't worse. Meanin g we were lucky we weren't robbed or worse. Also on the way back to GA (same trip) the rest areas were closed we pulled over into the entrance from the rest area to the highway(way off the highwway) and took the dogs out, here comes a security guard told us it wasn't safe in this area there had been several drug busts and a shooting at the area.
I said no way am I traveling with my wife and stopping in the places we do (rest areas, etc to let the dogs out) without protection

Quote: Far off the subject...
Subject line is handguns & full-timing
Just (speculation on my part) but, I would be willing to bet some of the relatives of the graduates stayed in their RV,s before the ceremony.
and it is doubtful that many less would have been injured or dead if some more had been armed.
Total speculation on your part, It is very likely that soldiers that are going to be deployed to a war zone have had extensive gun training..Thus if on a military base, cadets being shot at will shoot back.. If they would have had the OPPORTUNITY for self defense
Other than carrying weapons for training Fort Hood was supposed to be gun free.
Now that makes a lot of sense, the PC crowd gone amuck. Gun free for who? Police, military officers, or just the ones we are sending to defend this country?
Again how many have found a real need for a gun in an RV..
The point is: that a gun is a tool for self protection, not a tool to menace and threaten others, In a rv you can never know who is parked next to you, driving past you, just need another drug fix, or just hates your lifestyle.

First off, the picture of the post that said carry one of these in Canada and show a picture of a shotgun. It looks similar to mine which is illegal in Canada as only HUNTING shotguns are allowed and not self defense type that have shorter barrels and hold 5 to 8 rounds. Next, if you have a conceal carry permit like I do, it cannot be hidden as it will be revealed to the police officer when they run your plates or drivers license so you have to be honest if you have a weapon in your vehicle. Since we are full timers I will avoid the states with very strict gun laws but going on a trip to Alaska poses a problem. It is always nice to have some protection when boondocking and I would like my 45 near by when I plan to salmon fish in Alaska for protection from a hungry bear etc. Guess I'll leave the guns and take my chances that a rare occasion for the need of a fire arm will not be needed and enjoy.
