Conspiracy? Well, there has been an earlier in the spring social going on mostly out west like Tombstone that grabs some priority, but I think a half dozen of us from that April experience will be going to B8. Interestingly, despite B8 being in Illinois this year very few people are coming from the west. Even Tombstone had hardly anyone from the west other than some eastern transplants to Arizona.

The conspiracy is no conspiracy at all. It is a lack of community. This rallies forum is not going to garner attention of B owners as it did when organization was done under the B Forum in the past. Community is the key to any organizing and that was lost.

We are going to B8 because it is easily on our way to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 the following weekend. B7 was impossible for us to make last year because we were out west and always have to go to Indy for the race (I'm a Speedway native). That's why we missed B3 in Branson, the first year we had our B because it was on Memorial Day weekend.

Atlee,

We just completed a 39 day 6,350 mile trip out west as far as the the San Jacinto Mountain in California above Palm Springs and only logged 420 miles on the Interstates mainly because of mountains and desert offering no other alternatives. That's the way we travel. We chose the most challenging and interesting routes. Nebraska kind of got tedious today coming home. My recommendation would be to take US 50 west from Virginia. Not great but better than the Interstates.

US50 would be a possibility if I were retired. Unfortunately, I only have Thursday, Friday and Monday off. It would be to far out of the way to go north from home to pick up US50.

Coming home from Springfield, I'll be forced to take the fastest way, and that will probably be simply a matter of telling Garmin to go home the fastest way.

Hi all,

Atlee - I'll be traveling the same route starting on Tuesday from Newport News, VA. White/Tan 04 Popular we will be behind you somewhere.

Lynne - So sorry your not going to make this event. Looking forward to seeing you on the road in the future. You not being there is going to be a real bummer.

Pat and I are planning to arrive on Thursday night.

See you all there and the ones I don't see I hope we all can make the next event.

You'll be there a day in front of us. We can't leave until after work on Wednesday. We'll probably drive as far as Clifton Forge, on the other side of Lexington before calling it a night. We'll probably be back on the road around 5-5:30 Thursday morning.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Okay, here's a funny thing ... I've taken a tram from Palm Springs to the San Jacinto state park and stayed within its view numerous times, yet I had no idea about the history of US40 where Atlee will be driving, and it's in my own home state!

Check out National Road

You've got to love all you can learn on RV.net

I'm an interstate fan myself, and will again recommend I70 through Indy for anyone looking for a speedy route through the middle of Indiana. Outside of rush hour or road construction, it's a fairly easy drive with good views of downtown Indy. The I465 loop around is okay, too, but you miss the city views.

Need your help here folks! The 10 day weather forecast for Springfield calls for 60% chance of rain on Friday of Rally. Let's everybody concentrate on sunshine for Friday and Saturday!
Can't hurt; it's still 10 days away.

Remember weather forecasts are always subject to change....and we want this one to change to sunshine and warm.
Hope to get to Springfield on Wed....want to check out a Diners Drive In and Dives place....plus do some site seeing in the area.

Anne and Dick, I'm also hoping to get to Springfield on Wednesday to do the same! Plan on taking my time, and am leaving Ontario on Tuesday and will likely stay somewhere on Lake Michigan Tuesday night. I'll look forward to meeting you on Wednesday and eveyone else soon after!

As for Thursday... I'm open to anything, but if it's potluck, I should know ahead, because I can't bring any FOOD over the border!!! (well, fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs... and I've even had hot dogs taken away!!) so it's tough for me to bring a prepared addition to potluck, but I'm game!

I have never seen or heard of a weather forecaster who could predict with any accuracy the weather 10 days into the future.
If I had been wrong in my past job as often as weather forecasters I would not have lasted 3 days in any of my jobs.
If no rain comes he is still 40% right.

It's working! Weather Forcast:
Now it is a 20% chance of rain on Friday and 40% chance on Saturday and Sunday. Keep up those good thoughts! Other thoughts for Thursday Night from the Campground hosts:

Deep Fried Hot Dogs and/or FF
Corn Dogs

A showing of a great movie: The Long, Long Trailer with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez. This movie is hilarious!

Now that the weather looks better, a campfire shows more promise, too. I do love to play with fire!

Michael
