What is Rand Mcnally's return policy? I've been through several until I found one that I liked, that was five years ago. I have a Garmin 2720 that we finally stayed with I am looking for one with a larger screen but because of the companies return policies I am leary to try out any of them. Are there any web sites that show several pictures of the screens and maps? There used to be a web site that showed the screens of several next to each other in and out of the sun and compared the routing accuracy but I cannot find it.

I have ordered one and looking forward to use it.I will be traveling to new york in 1 week time and will report back about it.I have always used Garmin and my first one was Street Pilot 2600.It worked well for me for several years but now it keeps on shutting frequently as it seems that cable end connected to the GPS unit become loose.I tried to fix it using electric to keep it connected but this did not work. This unit has truck route option.Anyway it is time to get a new RV Specific unit and I hope Rand Mcnally 5510 work for me.

If it's available through Amazon, they're return policies are very good.

My 5510 is on its way back for repair, this is the second time it locked up. Both times on the same day I had it at home new. When I tried to set it up with the upload for later updates it locks the screen with a notice to call factory. Only thing good so far is it gives you the toll free number to call. When I did, they emailed instruction how to send it back UPS. So far not very happy, my old Garmin 7200 is still in the RV.

I've been using the GPS on the road for three days. At this point, I'm about 75% sure I'll be returning it. It's not that bad of a GPS but it's intolerable at the price Rand McNally is asking.
Navigation has been quite good. The POI's have been hit or miss. Many locations are missing from the database and others are just plain wrong. The "Next exit" feature is sorely lacking. It works and then it doesn't and many POI's are missing. It also only seems to work on actual interstates. Major state highways are missing.
Looking at POI's is also a pain. One view shows you details that another does not. Getting back from a POI to look at others is tedious and if you look at the map view of a POI you have to start over instead of going back to the list.
Disappointing.

There are a few "major" manufacturers of GPS units. Garmin, Magellan, TomTom.
Those three companies are in intense competition with each other for sales/market share, which means they constantly add new features and/or drop pricing.
Who benefits from that? Us consumers
For another company to come in and do something that none of them do, and do it well, is highly unlikely. Not impossible, but highly unlikely.
So people buy some of the product...time goes on, and the company says "Well...looks like we're not selling as many as we need to, so we're going to discontinue the product."
Seen this many, many times.

That is disappointing news. We have a Street Pilot 330, and it has been ok, but it is about 4 years old, and we can't download the entire United States. We were really hoping this GPS would be just the thing for RV'ers.

Don't give up yet, we are pretty happy with ours.
Will be going on a 8 week trip soon so that will be the real test.
I will definately post updates.

My M.D. RV, GPS has reached their repair factory as of today, this is what the tracking number shows. This is second time to return. Have yet to use it. It seems it will not take the upload from my Mac Computer. I hope they replace it with a new one. This time they ask to upload when I receive it back using my PC instead of my Mac. Keep that in mind if you download from their system. It does have a update for Mac . That is what I used both times it locked up. Then it has to go back for repair or replacement. My trip for first 2 weeks in Sept. will be here in Canada, from Ontario to Digby Nova Scotia, If I get it back before then. More on how it works after that trip.

I used the new Rand Mcnally GPS this past week. I was happy with it. I took a trip from North East PA to Virginia Beach. It routed me around all the Propane restricted tunnels in the Maryland area. That made me pretty happy. Also knowing that it pays attention to height restrictions and other critical items makes it worth it for me.
